Independent regional airline Airlink has announced the launch of its new direct route from Cape Town to Gaborone, set to commence on April 1, 2025. This development follows the confirmation by both Botswana and South African regulatory authorities that all necessary approvals are in place for Airlink to operate this new route.
Rodger Foster, Airlink’s CEO and Managing Director, expressed gratitude to both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter efficiently. “We appreciate both governments’ aeronautical regulatory bodies for resolving the matter, so that Airlink can do what it does best, which is connecting people and markets by providing reliable and convenient flights with great service. We have reinstated the flights in the global reservations system, which lets customers make reservations for flights on the route,” said Foster.
Meeting Rising Demand for Business and Leisure Travel
The new Cape Town-Gaborone route comes in response to the increasing demand from both local and international long-haul travelers for a direct service between these two important cities. “Gaborone and Cape Town are important destinations for business and leisure travel, and we have seen rising interest and demand from local and international long-haul customers for an Airlink direct service between the two cities,” added Foster.
