Review: A Night to Remember at MamaSamba, A Foodie’s Delight

Our recent staycation at Voco The Bank in Rosebank took an unexpected turn for the delicious, thanks to the lovely General Manager, Jessica Redinger. On a Friday night, we were whisked away for a culinary adventure at MamaSamba, a vibrant Latin American restaurant just a stone’s throw from our hotel.

As luck would have it, MamaSamba had just unveiled their new menu, and we were privy to indulging in some of their latest creations. The warm welcome from the friendly hostesses set the tone for the evening, followed by a delightful surprise from Sanele, the manager, who greeted us with complimentary welcome shots. Our table overlooked the bustling Gorilla Lounge, with house music creating a festive atmosphere.

Our taste bud trip began with a flavorful bowl of Ramen, melt-in-your-mouth Salmon Sushi, wings with a kick, and shrimp tacos that were an absolute revelation. The tacos were, hands down, my personal favorite! To complement this feast, we opted for a South African red wine, a choice that may raise eyebrows amongst culinary connoisseurs (who might recommend white for some dishes), but it added a delightful richness that we thoroughly enjoyed.

As the drinks flowed and conversation buzzed, we savored every bite and sip. The night culminated in a round of refreshing Margaritas. Despite being seasoned veterans in our 30s, fully aware of the potential repercussions the next day, we were determined to soak up every moment – and that we did!

Here’s a little secret about MamaSamba: This hidden gem goes beyond delectable dishes. The vibrant atmosphere and eclectic music selection create a truly unique dining experience.

For anyone seeking a taste of Latin American cuisine in Rosebank, MamaSamba is a must-visit. Head over to their website for more information: MamaSamba.

A huge thank you to Jessica Redinger and the Voco team for making our evening at MamaSamba an unforgettable one – it’s an experience we’ll cherish for a long time to come!
