Intrepid Travel Champions Sustainable Tourism with New Handbook for Agents

Intrepid Travel, a leader in small-group adventure travel, has released a new resource to empower travel agents in promoting sustainable tourism. The 12-page handbook, titled “How to be a champion of change: An agent’s guide to understanding sustainable travel,” equips agents with the knowledge and tools to effectively communicate and sell sustainable travel options to their clients.

This free downloadable guide is designed to bridge the gap between travel professionals and the growing demand for eco-conscious travel. Dr. Susanne Etti, Intrepid’s Global Environmental Impact Manager and the handbook’s author, highlights the lack of easily understandable resources for agents. “We created this handbook to empower agents to explain sustainable travel to their customers,” she says.

The handbook achieves this by providing agents with:

  • Clear definitions of sustainable travel concepts.
  • Practical tips for discussing sustainability with clients.
  • Real-world examples showcasing Intrepid’s sustainable travel practices.

This initiative aligns with a recent Skift study revealing that while 90% of travelers seek sustainable options, 70% find the process overwhelming. Intrepid’s handbook aims to bridge this gap by equipping travel agents to become “champions of change” in the industry.

“There’s no competitive advantage when it comes to sustainability,” says Dr. Etti. Intrepid’s commitment extends beyond its own handbook; they aim to share knowledge and inspire the entire travel industry to embrace sustainable practices.
