Empowering Women Through HER Wine Collection: A Story of Resilience and Success

Three decades into democracy, women are making significant strides in industries previously dominated by men. Among these trailblazers is the HER Wine Collection, founded by an all-African team of women dedicated not only to establishing themselves in the wine industry but also to empowering and uplifting young women.

HER Wines has prioritized creating opportunities for young women to shape their own futures. Since 2023, the company has allocated 2% of its profits from sales to a bursary fund aimed at supporting young women who may lack the resources to further their studies after completing matriculation.

Praisy Dlamini, the general manager and winemaker at HER Wines, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “There was a time when women like us did not have the opportunity to study or start businesses. Today, we are humbled to change the situation for young women who find themselves lacking resources to reach greater heights.”

Since its inception, HER Wines has fully funded six ambitious young women to pursue their studies in the Cape Winelands of the Western Cape. This support includes mentoring throughout their studies and providing a solid support structure.

One of the initial recipients of the bursary has excelled in her first year of Educare training at Huguenot College, a feat made possible with the support of HER Wines.

As demand for the bursary increased in 2024, HER Wines expanded its support, awarding it to three more young women. This expansion underscores the growing need for initiatives that empower young women.

HER Wine Collection is not only laying the groundwork for individual success but also contributing to the future of the nation. By providing constant encouragement, accountability, and support, they are creating a platform for women to rise above challenges and thrive.

HER Wine Collection is committed to paying its success forward by empowering young women and providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
