FlySafair is gearing up for the summer season by adding two new Boeing 737-800 NG aircraft to its fleet. This expansion is expected to increase the airline’s daily schedule by 12-14 flights, meeting the rising demand for travel during the peak season.
“There’s no better time to prepare for the silly season than now,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair. “Our passengers are eager to travel, with bookings over December already on the rise. We believe current market prices are unreasonably high, and by adding capacity during peak periods, we can offer more affordable options for flyers.”
While specific routes for the new Boeings haven’t been confirmed, they are likely to be deployed on flights servicing South Africa’s Golden Triangle – Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Durban. The first aircraft is scheduled to join FlySafair’s fleet in September, with the second one following in November.
Each new Boeing 737-800 NG will add 189 seats to FlySafair’s capacity, bringing their total fleet to 36 aircraft. This expansion will provide more travel options and potentially help drive down prices during the busy summer season.
