In celebration of National Breastfeeding Week, Kellanova, formerly Kellogg’s, has unveiled a new Mother’s Rooms facility at its Springs Manufacturing plant. This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace for women.
Designed to provide a comfortable and private space for breastfeeding employees, the Mother’s Rooms facility offers a range of amenities including:
- Private pumping and storage areas
- Educational resources on infant feeding
- Sterilizers, microwaves, and sinks for equipment cleaning
- A kitchenette with lactation biscuits
- Comfortable seating, proper lighting, and essential supplies
“Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) is a cornerstone of Kellanova’s strategy,” said Philip Nieman, General Manager at Kellanova South Africa. “We believe in empowering women at every stage of their careers, and this facility is a tangible demonstration of our commitment to creating an enabling environment for working mothers.”
The company has made significant strides in increasing female representation within its workforce, with women now comprising 41% of the total employee base and 52% of managerial roles. Initiatives such as the Women of Kellanova (WOK) Business Employee Resource Group and the ‘WOK Bloom’ leadership development program have been instrumental in supporting women’s professional growth.
Kellanova’s dedication to creating an inclusive workplace culture extends beyond women. The Men as Allies program encourages male employees to actively participate in promoting gender equality.
By providing a supportive infrastructure and fostering a culture of inclusivity, Kellanova is setting a positive example for other companies in the industry and contributing to a more equitable workplace for all employees.
