SANParks Upgrades Booking System for Enhanced Visitor Experience

South African National Parks (SANParks) is set to revolutionise its visitor experience with the introduction of a new, state-of-the-art booking system. The organisation is implementing the Tourism Property Management System (TPMS), a globally recognised software solution designed to streamline accommodation and activity bookings across all national parks.

According to SANParks Head of Communications, JP Louw, the TPMS is a modern, comprehensive platform that will significantly enhance the park’s operational efficiency. The system aims to address long-standing technological challenges that have hindered SANParks’ tourism, hospitality, and property management functions.

To identify areas for improvement, SANParks conducted a thorough analysis of its existing systems. The new TPMS is expected to improve accessibility, simplify the booking process, and unlock new revenue streams.

The rollout of the TPMS commenced on August 1, 2024, with Golden Gate Highlands and Addo Elephant National Parks serving as pilot sites. SANParks acknowledges that the transition may cause temporary disruptions to operations at its headquarters and the selected parks. However, the organisation assures the public that it is committed to minimising any inconvenience.

With this strategic move, SANParks aims to provide visitors with a more seamless and enjoyable experience while optimising its internal operations.
