Tau Game Lodge Review: An Unforgettable African Adventure.

Our journey began with a scenic 4-hour drive from Johannesburg, winding through the captivating landscapes of Hartbeespoort Dam, Marikana, and the charming town of Zeerust. As we approached Tau Game Lodge, nestled on the Botswana border, the proximity to Botswana was immediately apparent, offering glimpses of Botswana homes on certain game drive routes.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm smiles, and our vehicle was expertly parked by the attentive staff. Checking into our deluxe chalet was a delight, boasting an outdoor shower, luxury bathtub, and personalized Tau Game Lodge-branded amenities. Stepping onto the balcony, we were treated to breathtaking views of various wildlife, including elephants, rhinos, zebras, warthogs, and sometimes even lions and crocodiles.

Our knowledgeable ranger led us on an exhilarating game drive, bringing us up close to lions, elephants, zebras, and warthogs. The highlight of our adventure was a surprise bush dinner under the African stars, indulging in a three-course meal featuring delicious Kudu prepared on a braai. Dining alongside our ranger and fellow travelers added an extra layer of magic to the experience.

Even a rainy morning game drive couldn’t dampen our spirits, as each excursion was filled with unforgettable encounters. Returning to the lodge, we savored a sumptuous breakfast buffet before relaxing on our chalet balcony, watching wildlife pass by.

The infinity pool, overlooking a herd of elephants, provided the perfect spot to unwind. Lunch was a culinary delight, offering options like hake and nachos that tantalized our taste buds.

A highlight of our stay was the surprise Batswana dance performance and birthday celebration for my partner, showcasing the genuine warmth and hospitality of the staff.

Our final game drive was a thrilling experience, encountering cheetahs, leopards, buffalos, a hyena, and even a black mamba during the night drive. Returning to the lodge, we savored another delicious dinner with our ranger, relishing dishes like succulent pork belly.

As we bid farewell the next morning, we were touched to find our car washed by the exceptional staff, reflecting their dedication to service.
