The Winston to be Reborn as Park Hyatt Johannesburg

The elegant Winston Hotel in Rosebank, Johannesburg, is undergoing a transformation. Acquired by Millat, the Farooqui family’s investment firm, the hotel is set to reopen later this year as the ultra-luxurious Park Hyatt Johannesburg.

The Winston has long been known for its classic design and tranquil location amidst the leafy streets of Rosebank. This new chapter promises to elevate that experience even further. Park Hyatt Johannesburg will offer an intimate atmosphere with just 31 rooms, each featuring a king-sized bed and a dedicated workspace.

Guests can look forward to a sophisticated culinary experience with a restaurant and bar. The hotel will also boast a spacious dining room, an inviting outdoor terrace, and versatile event spaces perfect for conferences and meetings accommodating up to 60 people.

The renovations are being overseen by Yabu Pushelberg, the renowned design firm behind stunning Park Hyatt locations in New York, Shenzhen, and Bangkok. Their expertise ensures the Park Hyatt Johannesburg will embody the brand’s signature blend of world-class sophistication and understated elegance.

While reservations are not yet available, the transformation of The Winston is a cause for excitement. This will mark the fourth collaboration between Hyatt and Millat in South Africa, adding to their existing portfolio that includes Hyatt House Johannesburg Rosebank, Hyatt Regency Cape Town, and Hyatt House Johannesburg Sandton. Park Hyatt Johannesburg joins Hyatt’s impressive Africa portfolio, which now boasts 13 properties, including the highly acclaimed Park Hyatt Zanzibar.
