Minor Hotels, a global hotel owner, operator, and investor, has officially entered the South African market with the rebranding of the former Hilton Sandton to NH Sandton on July 1st. This strategic move marks the beginning of the company’s expansion plans for both its NH and NH Collection brands across Africa.
Lindi Mthethwa, Regional Director of Sales & Marketing for Minor Hotels, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for growth in the region. “We see significant potential in the African market, and South Africa is a natural starting point. The NH Sandton is just the beginning of our journey here,” she said.
While the NH Sandton currently operates under the NH brand, it is set to undergo a 24-month refurbishment to elevate its status to the premium NH Collection brand by early 2027. The revamped property will boast 329 guest rooms, including luxurious suites and a 145 sqm Royal Suite, catering to both business and leisure travelers.
Minor Hotels aims to position the NH brand as a mid-range option offering comfortable and functional accommodations for business and leisure travelers. In contrast, the NH Collection brand targets a more discerning clientele seeking upscale amenities and personalized services.
The NH Sandton’s strategic location in Sandton, Johannesburg’s financial hub, makes it an ideal base for corporate clients. The hotel’s meeting and event facilities are expected to attract a significant portion of the business traveler market.
As Minor Hotels continues to explore expansion opportunities in Africa, the company is confident that its NH and NH Collection brands will resonate with travelers seeking a diverse range of accommodation options.
